Keeping Your
Eyes on Zebra's Ears

A zebra's ears are worth watching. They tell you how the zebra is feeling. If a zebra's ears are standing straight up, it's a sign that the zebra is feeling calm. If the zebra's ears are pointed forward, then danger may be near. Ears pointed forward mean the zebra is afraid. If a zebra's ears are pointed backward, you better hope that there's a fence between you and the striped creature. Ears flattened backward are a sign of anger. The zebra may be getting ready to attack.

How Bats Use Their Ears
A bat uses its ears to find its way. Even in the darkest places, a bat has no trouble getting around. As it flies, it makes noises. Some of the bats noises are clicks. Others are screeching sounds. Many are so high people can't hear them. The bat picks up the sounds with its ears. By carefully using its ears, a bat can tell where things are. The longer it takes the sound waves to bounce back, the farther the object is. Using sound waves, bats can even find small bugs flying at high speeds. In on test, bats were able to catch more than a hundred bugs in just one minute.
